Indications & Dose: HYPERPHOSPHATEMIA PO Adult Based on serum phosphorous levels: Initial dose: >5.5 to <7.5mg/dL: 800mg TID, >7.5 to <9.0mg/dL: 1.2-1.6g TID, >9mg/dL: 1.6g TID, MD: >5.5mg/dL: Increase by 400-800mg/meal at 2 wk intervals, 3.5-5.5 mg/dL: Same as initial dose, <3.5 mg/dL: Decrease by 400-800mg/mealCRF PATIENTS on HD |
Contra: hypophosphatemia, bowel obstruction
Precautions: gi disorders ADR: Serious: hypotension/ hypertension, peripheral edema, Others: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, headache, cough, pruritus, intestinal obstruction DDI: Serious Tacrolimus/Levothyroxine absorption is reduced, Quinolones bioavailability is reduced, Furosemide efficacy is abolished, Mycophenolate/Ciclosporin levels are reduced Diet: With food Monitor: Serum Phosphate, Ca, HCO3, cl- |
