Indications & Dose: HIV INFECT PO Adult >60 kg: 40mg q12h, <60 kg: 30mg q12h Child Neonates(birth-13 days): 500µg/kg q12h, >14 days (<30 kg): 1mg/kg q12h, >30 kg: 40mg q12h |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, lactic acidosis, hyperlactatemia
Precautions: history of peripheral neuropathy, hepatomegaly, renal disease, bone marrow depression, pancreatitis, HIV infect ADR: Serious: hyperbilirubinemia, peripheral neuropathy, increases liver enzymes, lactic acidosis, osteonecrosis, convulsions, Others: diarrhea, dyspepsia, depression, headache, fatigue, insomnia, rash, pruritus, sleep disturbances, nausea DDI: Serious Zidovudine/Doxorubicin inhibits drug effects, Didanosine leads to peripheral neuropathy & pancreatitis, Chlorpropamide level is reduced Diet: With/without food Monitor: LFT, renal function tests, signs & symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, viral load & CD4 count |
