Indications & Dose: CHRONIC HEPATITIS B INFECT PO Adult 300mg OD as disoproxil fumarate ester | HIV INFECTION & AIDS PO Adult 300mg OD as disoproxil fumarate ester |
Contra: Concurrent/recent nephrotoxic therapy, concurrent use of didanosine
Precautions: Renal impairment, lactic acidosis, exacerbation of hepatitis, hepatomegaly with steatosis, elderly ADR: Serious: increases TG level, chest pain, hematuria, pneumonia, lactic acidosis, Others: URTI, fatigue, serum amylase increases, insomnia, dizziness, rash, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, weakness DDI: Serious Vancomycin enhances nephrotoxicity, HIV protease inhibitors increases drug levels, Didanosine increases risk of pancreatitis & peripheral neuropathy Diet: With/without food Monitor: Patients with HIV: CBC, reticulocyte count, SeCr, CD4 count, HIV RNA plasma levels, renal and LFTs, bone density. Patients with HBV: HIV status, bone density, serum phosphorus, SeCr, LFTs, signs/symptoms of HBV relapse/exacerbation |
