Indications & Dose: ALCOHOL WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME IV/IM Adult 100mg/day for several days followed by 50-100mg/day (PO) | BERIBERI PO Child 10-50 mg/dose/day 2 wk then 5-10mg/dose 1 month | IV/IM Adult Initially 5-30mg/dose TID followed by 5-30mg/day (PO) TID in 1 or 3 divided doses 1 month Child 10-25mg/dose/day | PARENTERAL NUTRITION SUPPLEMENTATION Adult 6mg/day may increase to 25-50mg/day in patients with alcohol abuse Child 1-2mg/day | WERNICKES ENCEPHALOPATHY IV Adult Initially 500mg TID 3 days. If there is response continue with 250mg/day (IM/IV) for next 5 days or till clinical improvement | Prophylactic therapy IV Adult 250mg OD 3-5 days
