Indications & Dose: DIAGNOSIS OF INSULINOMA & OTHER PANCREATIC DISORDE IV Adult 1g as 5% solution administer over 2-3min | TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS PO Adult Initially 1-2g/day as single dose or divided doses MD 0.25-3g/day Elderly Initially 250mg 1-3 times/day, max 3g/day |
Contra: DM with ketoacidosis, severe infection, trauma, renal/hepatic impairment
Precautions: elder, debilitated/malnourished patients, adrenal/pituitary insufficiency ADR: Serious: hepatitis, blood disorders, SJS, exfoliative dermatitis, hypersensitivity reactions, facial flushing, Others: mild hypoglycemia, vomiting, nausea, heartburn, anorexia, diarrhea, metallic taste, increases appetite, rash, pruritus, photosensitivity DDI: Serious Corticosteroids causes hyperglycemia, Chloramphenicol/Azapropazone/Clarithromycin/Dicoumarol/Miconazole/Phenylbutazone/Sulfinpyrazone leads to hypoglycemia, β-blockers reduces anti-diabetic efficacy of drug, Rifampicin reduces serum levels & anti-diabetic efficacy of drug, Phenytoin toxicity occurs Diet: With food |
