Indications & Dose: ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES IM/SC Adult Urofollitropin is administered to provide 150-225U of FSH/day, from 2nd or 3rd day of the menstruation. Alternatively, therapy may begin with clomifene & continued with urofollitropin or it may be given after suppression of gonadotrophin release with a gonadorelin analogue. Continue therapy until adequate response is obtained & final injection of urofollitropin is followed 1-2 days later with chorionic gonadotrophin (5, 000-10, 000U). Oocyte retrieval is performed after 34-35h | FEMALE INFERTILITY IM/SC Adult Initially a dose providing 75-150U of FSH/day not exceeding >12 days, max 450U/day. Stop the therapy once adequate response is obtained & after 1 or 2 days administer chorionic gonadotrophin (5, 000-10, 000U as single dose) to induce ovulation | MALE INFERTILITY Combination therapy IM/SC Adult Urofollitropin that provides 150U of FSH thrice weekly, continue treatment for not <4 months with chorionic gonadotrophin | POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME IM/SC Adult Initially 75-150U of FSH/day 12 days, max 450U/day. Stop the therapy once adequate response is obtained & after 1 or 2 days administer chorionic gonadotrophin (5, 000-10, 000U as single dose) to induce ovulation |
Contra: Abnormal genital bleeding, hormone sensitive malignancies
Precautions: Pelvic examinations, patients who experience ovarian enlargement are at risk of rupture, rule out infertility caused by hypothyroidism/adrenocortical deficiency/hyperprolactinemia/tumors of the pituitary/hypothalamus ADR: Serious: shock, thromboembolic disorders, rupture of ovarian cysts & intraperitoneal hemorrhage, hypersensitivity reactions, Ovarian hyperstimulation, ascites, pleural effusion, Others: hypovolemia, acute abdominal pain, local reactions at Inj site, nausea, vomiting, joint pains, fever, gynecomastia, acne, weight gain |
