Indications & Dose: PRIMARY IMMUNIZATION AGAINST NEISSERIA MENINGITIDIS IM Adult 0.5mL single dose Child 2–12 months: 3 doses each of 0.5mL at an interval of 4 wk; >1 yr: 0.5mL single doseMeningococcal vaccines are available as combinations of capsular polysaccharide antigens serogroups A and C, or A, C, W135 & Y |
Contra: hypersensitivity, severely immunosuppressed children, history of guillain-barre syndrome
Precautions: acute illness, neurological conditions, alcohol/disinfectant ADR: Serious: myalgia, arthralgia, lymphadenopathy, hypersensitivity reactions, bronchospasm, angioedema, anaphylaxis, influenza-like symptoms, lymphangitis, Others: pain, inflammation, redness, sterile abscess, GI disturbances, fatigue, headache, irritability, loss of appetite, fever, dizziness, paresthesia, asthenia, drowsiness, rash, urticaria, malaise |
