Indications & Dose: IMMUNIZATION AGAINST VARICELLA-ZOSTER INFECTION SC Adult 2 doses each of 0.5mL, separated by 4–8 wk Child 1–12 yr: 0.5mL as single dose; >13 yr: Same as adult dose |
| Contra: hypersensitivity, severely immunosuppressed children, HIV-positive children, malignant disease treated with chemotherapy/radiotherapy, immunosuppressive therapy, transplantation, high-dose systemic corticosteroids, untreated active tuberculosis
Precautions: acute illness, neurological conditions, alcohol/disinfectant, should give 3wks before/3months after use of immunoglobulin, family history of congenital immune disorders ADR: Serious: lymphangitis, myalgia, influenza-like symptoms, arthralgia, lymphadenopathy, hypersensitivity reactions, bronchospasm, angioedema, anaphylaxis, Others: pain, inflammation, redness, an induration/sterile abscess, GI disturbances, fever, headache, irritability, loss of appetite, fatigue, dizziness, paresthesia, asthenia, drowsiness, rash, urticaria, malaise |
