Indications & Dose: INFECT IN IMMUNOCOMPROMISED PATIENTS IV Adult 1 or 2g BID over 3-5 mins (as inj) or 20-30 min (as inf) | SEPTICEMIA IV Adult 1 or 2g BID over 3-5 mins (as inj) or 20-30 min (as inf) | URINARY TRACT INFECT IV Adult 1 or 2g BID over 3-5 mins (as inj) or 20-30 min (as inf) |
Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: History of allergy, renal impairment, penicillin-sensitive patients, false positive Coombs’ test, false-positive reactions for glucose using copper-reduction reactions, false Jaffé method of measuring creatinine levels ADR: Serious: Hypersensitivity reactions, blood disorders, bleeding complications, platelet dysfunction, anaphylaxis, hypoprothrombinemia, nephrotoxicity, acute interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, transient increases in liver enzyme values, cholestatic jaundice, convulsions, CNS toxicity, overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, pseudomembranous colitis, thrombophlebitis, Others: Skin rashes, urticaria, eosinophilia, fever, nausea, vomiting, local reactions, pain at Inj site, diarrhea DDI: Serious Probenecid reduces drug renal clearance |
