Indications & Dose: MIGRAINE/OTHER VASCULAR HEADACHES PO Adult Prophylaxis /treatment: 4mg may be repeated after 30min, patients who respond usually show improvement with 8mg, MD 4mg q4-6h | PERENNIAL/SEASONAL ALLERGIC RHINITIS PO Adult 4-20 mg/day divided q8h, max 0.5mg/kg/day Child 2-6 yr: 2mg BID/TID, max 12mg/day, 7-14 yr: 4mg BID/TID, max 16mg/day | PRURITUS PO Adult Initially 4mg TID, adjusted as necessary Child 2-6 yr: 2mg BID/TID, max 12mg/day, 7-14 yr: 4mg BID/TID, max 16mg/day | URTICARIA PO Adult 4-20 mg/day divided q8h, max 0.5mg/kg/day Child 2-6 yr: 2mg BID/TID, max 12mg/day, 7-14 yr: 4mg BID/TID, max 16mg/day |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, narrow-angle glaucoma, bladder neck obstruction, pyloroduodenal obstruction, symptomatic prostatic hyperplasia, stenosing peptic ulcer, concurrent use of MAOI, debilitated elder, in premature & term newborns
Precautions: CVD, increased IOP, asthma/other chronic breathing disorders, thyroid dysfunction, urinary retention, pyloroduodenal obstruction, epilepsy, withdraw drug in patients undergoing metyrapone tests for Cushing’s syndrome, prostatic hyperplasia ADR: Serious: Extrasystoles, hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, angioedema, difficult urination, urinary frequency/urinary retention, blood disorders, hepatitis/hepatic failure, blurred vision/diplopia, tinnitus, seizure, allergic reactions, Others: Increased appetite & weight gain, sedation, thickening bronchial secretions, nasal congestion, pharyngitis, paresthesia, photosensitivity, rash, anorexia, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, xerostomia, confusion, coordination disturbed, dizziness, euphoria, faintness, hallucinations, headache, hysteria DDI: Serious Paroxetine/Fluoxetine antidepressant effects opposes by drug, MAOIs may leads to depression/delayed hallucinations |
