Indications & Dose: CHEMOTHERAPY INDUCED NAUSEA/VOMITING Prophylactic therapy PO Adult 1mg BID with first dose given at least 1h before chemotherapy & second dose given 12h later on days when chemotherapy is administered or 2mg OD at least 1h before chemotherapy | Prophylactic therapy IV Adult 10µg/kg within 30min before chemotherapy Child 2-16 yr: Same as adult dose | POSTOPERATIVE NAUSEA/VOMITING IV Adult Treatment/prophylaxis: 1mg over 30sec | RADIATION INDUCED NAUSEA/VOMITING Prophylactic therapy PO Adult 2mg/day within 1h of radiation therapy |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: Allergic to other 5-HT3 receptor, patients at risk of QT prolongation & ventricular arrhythmia, congenital long QT syndrome, patients with signs of subacute intestinal obstruction/ileus ADR: Serious: QTc prolongation, HTN, liver enzymes increased, anaphylaxis, angina, arrhythmias, syncope, Others: oliguria, cough, infect, fever, dizziness, insomnia, somnolence, anxiety, agitation, rash, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, Headache, constipation, weakness DDI: Serious Paracetamol analgesic effects may blocked by drug, Apomorphine inj may cause profound hypotension & loss of consciousness in patients with Parkinson’s disease |
