Indications & Dose: ACTIVE IMMUNISATION IM Child Infants born to HBs Ag positive mothers: 0.5ml immediately after birth (<12h). Active vaccination with hepatitis B may be initiated at same time. Dose may be repeated if vaccination is delayed | POST-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS TO HEPATITIS B IM Adult 0.06mL/kg or 3-5mL soon after exposure, repeat at 28-30 days after exposure in non-responders to hepatitis B vaccine/in patients who refuse vaccination Child >1 yr: Same as adult dose | PREVENTION OF HEPATITIS B RECURRENCE IN LIVER TRANSPLANTS WHO ARE POSTIVE TO HBs Ag IV Adult 20000IU during surgery & then daily from day 1 to day 7 after transplant surgery, then q2 wks from week 2 to week 12, and then monthly from 4 months post-surgery |
Contra: hypersensitivity, severe allergy to gamma globulin, anti-immunoglobulin therapy, IM route of administration
Precautions: previous systemic hypersensitivity to human immunoglobulins, thrombocytopenia/coagulation disorder, IgA deficiencies, thrombocytopenia/coagulation disorder ADR: Serious: tremor, hypotension, angioedema, alkaline phosphatase/AST increased, flu-like syndrome, anaphylaxis, Others: arthralgia, erythema/pain/tenderness, bruising, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, WBC decreased, fainting, headache, malaise Monitor: Liver transplant: Se HBs Ag, infusion related adverse events |
