Indications & Dose: ALZHEIMER’S DEMENTIA-RELATED DEPRESSION PO Adult Initially 7.5mg HS, may increase at 7.5-15mg increments to 45-60mg/day | DEPRESSION PO Adult Initially 15mg HS, titrate upto 15-45mg/day with dose increases made no more frequently than q1-2wk |
Contra: hypersensitivity, use of MAOI within 14 days
Precautions: Hepatic/renal impairment, seizures, CVD, cerebrovascular disease, psychiatric illness, elderly ADR: Serious: Suicidal behaviour/ideation, agranulocytosis, chest pain, UTI, tremor, edema, Others: increased appetite, increased thirst, confusion, orthostatic hypotension, myalgia, dyspnea, photosensitivity, flu-like symptoms, sinusitis, constipation, dry mouth, urinary frequency, drowsiness, dizziness, abnormal thinking, asthenia DDI: Serious CNS Depressants causes additive CNS depression, Fluvoxamine/Fluoxetine causes serotonin syndrome, MAOIs leads to HTN, seizures, death Monitor: Agranulocytosis/severe neutropenia such as sore throat, stomatitis/other signs of infection/low WBC, depression, suicide ideation, anxiety, social functioning, mania, panic attacks, lipid profile |
