- HACEK group of organisms is slow-growing Gram negative bacteria requiring an atmosphere of CO2,
- These species are: —

- HACEK reside in oral cavity and are associated with local infections of the oral cavity.
- They can cause endocarditis on native or prosthetic heart valves.

HACEK GROUP Gram-Negative Treatment
- Ceftriaxone – 2 g /day.
- Ampicillin – 2 g 4 hrly.
- Penicillin – 16 – 18 million units / day in divided doses + Gentamycin.
