Indications & Dose: BOWEL CLEARANCE PO Adult 10-20mg HS, followed by 10mg as suppository next morning Child 4-10 yr: 5mg night before followed by 5mg as suppository next morning, >10 yr: 10-20mg night before followed by 10mg as suppository next morningBefore surgery/radiological investigation | CONSTIPATION PO Adult EC tablet: 5-10mg/day HS Child 4-10 yr: 5mg, >10 yr: 5-10mg | RECTAL Adult 10mg as suppository/enema in the morning Child <10 yr: 5mg, > 10 yr: 10mg inserted in the morning |
Contra: with other laxatives, prolonged use, intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, severe dehydration, anal fissures, proctitis, ulcerated hemorrhoids
Precautions: IBD ADR: Serious: atonic non-functioning colon, angioedema, anaphylactoid reactions, proctitis/sloughing of epithelium, Others: colic/cramps, diarrhea Diet: should not take with milk/antacid within 1h of administration Monitor: CBC, LFT, RFT |
