Indications & Dose: DEPRESSION PO Adult Initially 300mg/day in 2 divided doses, increase gradually to max 600mg/day | SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER PO Adult Initially 300mg increased after 3 days to 600mg, given in 2 divided doses for 8-12 wk |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, confusional states, concurrent use of sympathomimetics/MAOI/meperidine/TCA/thioridazine/serotonergic drugs (including SSRIs), excited/agitated patients
Precautions: Renal impairment, pheochromocytoma, thyroid dysfunction, thyrotoxicosis, severe hepatic impairment ADR: Serious: Tachycardia, hypotension, tremor, angina, bradycardia, conjunctivitis, HTN, flushing, EPS, tinnitus, visual disturbances, Others: extrasystoles, gastritis, gingivitis, hallucinations, heartburn, insomnia, malaise, migraine, paresthesia, phlebitic symptoms, photopsia, polyuria, prolonged menstruation, pruritus, rash, skeletal pain, stomatitis, taste alteration, delusions, disorientation, dry skin, dysarthria, dyspnea, dysuria, excitation, cold sensation, confusion, apathy, blurred vision, aggression, allergic reaction, sleep disturbance, agitation, nervousness, anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting DDI: Serious Sumatriptan bioavailability increases, SSRIs causes serotonin syndrome, Metoprolol hypotensive effect increases, Cimetidine increases drug plasma levels, Dextromethorphan metabolism is inhibited, Rizatriptan metabolism is markedly inhibited, Zolmitriptan metabolism is modestly inhibited Diet: Immediately after food Monitor: BP, suicidal ideation |
