  • HACEK group of organisms is slow-growing Gram negative bacteria requiring an atmosphere of CO2,
  • These species are: —
  • · Hemophilus

  • · Kingella.
    • HACEK reside in oral cavity and are associated with local infections of the oral cavity.
    • They can cause endocarditis on  native or prosthetic heart valves.

HACEK GROUP Gram-Negative Treatment

  • Ceftriaxone – 2 g /day.
  • Ampicillin – 2 g 4 hrly.
  • Penicillin – 16 – 18 million units / day in divided doses + Gentamycin.
