Indications & Dose: ADJUNCT TO THALLIUM STRESS TESTING IV Adult 140µg/kg/min over 6 min Via peripheral veinInfusion | DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF SVT IV General 3mg, then 6-12mg (given at 1-2 min intervals if required) | MYOCARDIAL IMAGING IV Adult Inf: 140µg/kg/min for 6 min, inject radionuclide after 3 min of infusion | PAROXYSMAL SUPRAVENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA IV Adult Initially 6mg (reduce to 3mg if patient is receiving carbamazepine/dipyridamole), if no response within 1-2 min increase to 12mg, repeat if needed max 12mg Child < 50 kg: Initially 0.05-0.1mg/kg, max 6mg, if no response within 1-2 min increase to 0.05-0.1mg/kg repeat if needed, max 0.3mg/kg or 12mg; >50 kg: Same as adult doseRapid bolus over 1-2 secs via peripheral vein | PSVT IN HEART TRANSPLANTATION PATIENTS IV Adult 3mg |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, second/third-degree AV block, sinus node disease/symptomatic bradycardia, WPWS
Precautions: Asthma, angina, elderly, children ADR: Serious: First/second-degree AV block, atrial tachyarrhythmias, hypotension, blurred vision, chest pain, Others: light-headedness, dizziness, apprehension, headache, nausea, dyspnea, burning sensation, facial flushing, sweating, metallic taste DDI: Serious Nicotinic Acid increases HR, DBP & chest pain Others Theophylline/Caffeine reduces drug effect Diet: Avoid dietary caffeine Monitor: ECG, HR, BP |
