Risk Factors Hypertension with Diabetes

• Poor response to therapy:
• Renal disease
• Alcohol or drug use
• Onset in patients of age <20 and >50 years
• Lack of family history of hypertension
• Significant target end organ damage
• In addition to factors listed below, resistant hypertension is more common in the following patients: female, African American race, obese, diabetic
• Worsening of control in previously stable hypertensive patient
• Stage 2 HTN (systolic BP >160 mm Hg or diastolic BP >100 mm Hg)

Hypertension with MI :

Hypertension with CRF :

• Central acting – methyldopa,clonidine
• Beta blockers Nifedipine Diuretics

Hypertension with stroke :
