Indications & Dose: BACTERAEMIA IV Adult 6mg/kg OD for 2-6 wks | SKIN AND SOFT-TISSUE INFECTIONS IV Adult 4mg/kg OD for 1-2 wks |
Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: Discontinue use immediately with signs/symptoms of eosinophilic pneumonia/hypersensitivity, patients taking other drugs associated with myopathy, on prolonged use, peripheral neuropathy, renal impairment ADR: Serious: Anemia, chest pain, peripheral edema, hypertension, hypotension, hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, eosinophilia, increased INR, increased ALT, AST, increased creatine phosphokinase, limb pain, back pain, osteomyelitis, weakness, arthralgia, gram-negative organism infection, bacteremia, sepsis, fungal infection, renal failure, pharyngolaryngeal pain, pleural effusion, cough, pneumonia, dyspnea, Others: Diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, insomnia, headache, dizziness , anxiety, skin rash, pruritus, diaphoresis, erythema, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, loose stools, GI hemorrhage, injection site reaction DDI: Others Fibrates increases risk of muscle toxicity, NSAIDs increases risks of renal impairment, Warfarin results in falsely elevated PT Monitor: CPK, signs & symptoms of infection/ eosinophilic pneumonia, for muscle pain or weakness |
