Indications & Dose: HYPERTENSION Moderate-to-severe PO Adult 10mg QID for 2-4 days; increase 10-25mg/dose to 50mg QID, max 300mg/day (usual range 25-100mg/day in 2 divided doses). Child Initially 0.75-1mg/kg/day in 2-4 divided doses; increase to max 7.5mg/kg/day in 2-4 divided doses over 3-4wk, max 200mg/day. Elderly Initially 10mg BID/TID; increase by 10-25mg/day every 2-5 days. | Moderate-to-severe IV/IM Adult Initially 10-20mg/dose may increase to 40mg/dose q4-6h; change to oral therapy as soon as possible. Child 0.1-0.2mg/kg/dose q4-6h up to 1.7-3.5mg/kg/day in 4-6 divided doses, max 20mg.

Contra: Hypersensitivity, Mitral valve rheumatic heart disease

Precautions: CAD, Severe renal disease, Idiopathic SLE & related disorders, Pulmonary hypertension

ADR: Serious: angina pectoris, arthralgia, asthenia, blood dyscrasias, conjunctivitis, dysuria, flushing, glomerulonephritis, haemolytic anaemia, hepatotoxicity, impotence, lacrimation, lymphadenopathy, malaise, orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, paralytic ileus, pericarditis, pruritis, rash, rheumatoid arthritis, tachycardia, tremor, urticaria, vascular collapse, Others: anorexia, anxiety, constipation, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, dyspnea, muscle cramps, nasal congestion, nausea, oedema, headache, vomiting, weight gain
