Indications & Dose: ALVEOLAR ECHINOCOCCOSIS PO Adult 4.5g/day in 3 divided doses 6 month, may be continued up to 2 yr after radical surgery/ indefinitely in inoperable cases | ASCARIASIS PO Adult 500mg single dose or 100mg BID 3 days Child >1 yr: Same as adult dose | CAPILLARIASIS PO Adult 200mg/day 20-30 days Child >2 yr: Same as adult dose | CYSTIC ECHINOCOCCOSIS PO Adult 4.5g/day in 3 divided doses 6 month | ENTEROBIASIS PO Adult 100mgsingle dose, repeated after interval of 2-3 wk, all household members over 2 yr should be treated at the same time Child >2 yr: Same as adult dose | HOOKWORM INFECT PO Adult 100mg BID 3 days, if eggs persist in feces then start second course after 3-4 wk Child >1 yr: Same as adult dose | TRICHURIASIS PO Adult 100mg BID 3 days, if eggs persist in feces then start second course after 3-4 wk Child >1 yr: Same as adult dose |
Precautions: Hepatic impairment
ADR: Serious: raised liver enzymes, bone marrow depression, Others: diarrhea, GI disturbances, headache, dizziness, allergic reactions DDI: Serious Metronidazole increases the risk of SJS/TEN, Phenobarbital/Carbamazepine/Phenytoin lowers the plasma levels of drug, Cimetidine raises serum drug levels Diet: with food Monitor: CBC, LFTs |
