Indications & Dose: HYPOCALCEMIA IN DIALYSIS PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE IV Adult Initially 500ng thrice weekly, may be increase in steps of 250–500ng at intervals of 2–4 wk, usual dose 0.5–3µg thrice weekly | POSTMENOPAUSAL OSTEOPOROSIS PO Adult 250ng BID | PSORIASIS TP Adult Ointment (3µg/g): Apply twice daily to affected area, max 200g/wk | RENAL OSTEODYSTROPHY PO Adult Initially 250ng/day, may be increase in steps of 250ng at an intervals of 2–4 wk, usual dose 0.5–1µg/day | SECONDARY HYPERPARATHYROIDISM IN DIALYSIS Moderate-to-severe IV Adult Initially 0.5–4µg thrice weekly, may be increase in steps of 250–500ng at intervals of 2–4 wk, max 8µg thrice weekly |

Precautions: Cardiac glycosides, malabsorption syndrome, renal impairment ADR: Serious: Cardiac arrhythmia, HTN, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, hypercholesterolemia, albuminuria, increased BUN, ALT, AST, conjunctivitis, polyuria, soft tissue calcification, photophobia, Others: erythema multiforme, rhinorrhea, allergic reaction, bone pain, nocturia, UTI, abdominal pain, headache, pruritus, sensory disturbances, dehydration, growth suppression, anorexia, hypothermia, psychosis, somnolence, constipation, metallic taste, xerostomia, skin discomfort, vomiting, weight loss, pancreatitis DDI: Serious Digoxin leads to arrhythmias, Thiazides leads to hypercalcemia & metabolic alkalosis Diet: With/Without food Monitor: Signs & symptoms of vit D intoxication, alkaline phosphatase, SeCr, serum Ca & phosphorus |
