Indications & Dose: EDEMA IN CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE PO/IV Adult Initially 20mg/day, increase dose gradually till the desired diuretic response is achieved, max 200mg | EDEMA IN HEART FAILURE PO Adult Initially 10-20mg/day increase dose gradually till the desired diuretic response is achieved, max 200mg | IV Adult Initially 10-20mg/day repeat q2h with double the dose as needed, max single dose 100-200 mg | EDEMA IN HEPATIC CIRRHOSIS PO Adult Initially 5-10mg/day increase gradually by doubling dose until the desired response is achieved, max single dose: 40mg | HYPERTENSION PO Adult Initially 5mg/day, if no response increase to 10mg OD after 4-6 wk |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, anuria, antihypertensives, sulfonylurea allergy
Precautions: Nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, cirrhosis, DM, elderly ADR: Serious: ECG abnormality, arthralgia, myalgia, rhinitis, Others: excessive urination, nervousness, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, sore throat, weakness, cough DDI: Serious NSAIDs decreases drug effect, Probenecid enhances adverse effects of drug, Corticosteroids increases hypokalemic effect, Cisplatin increases nephrotoxic effect, Warfarin levels are increased, Phenytoin/Indomethacin reduces drug efficacy, Allopurinol toxic effects are enhanced Diet: With/Without food Monitor: Renal function test, electrolyte levels, ECG, vital signs |
